After 3+ years of saying “some day”, 6 travel medicine vaccine appointments, 5 different travel backpack purchases, and one last minute Covid scare (we’re negative!!), we have finally left on our round-the-world adventure! (Aka RTW in travel blog culture 😉)
I can’t say planning for a RTW trip during Covid is the easiest thing we’ve ever done. We’ve been constantly watching case counts and travel restrictions increase and decrease across each region we want to visit, to the point where our philosophy has become to only worry about the regions in our immediate future. That is one benefit of having a loose itinerary – very easy to change course if needed! Beyond that, I think everyone that knows us knows how careful we’ve tried to be through Covid, and it will come as no surprise that we plan to continue our precautions as reasonably as we can. I’m excited to enjoy a change of warm weather while outdoor dining this year 😎
Now to answer the question I’m sure is on everyone’s mind – how is Christine going to survive for a year with only a weeks worth of clothes – to that I can only say I’m curious to find out the answer myself 😅. I’ve read countless travel packing tips in an attempt to be prepared in any scenario and get as much into my carry-on bag as possible. Meanwhile, John thinks he’s overpacked because he brought 7 shirts for the year. Different strategies – we’ll see who comes out on top! (We’re probably both wrong)
But all of the packing and moving is behind us. Our 10pm plane to Mexico City awaits us – as does sleep hopefully. Until next time!
